**Weight**

Weight is the measurement to determine how heavy a thing is. It is also called as mass.

There are various types of equipment and units to measure mass.

**Non Standard unit: **Non-standard units are the units which are not frequently used as they bound to change from time to time and from person to person.

**Standard unit:** Units which are widely accepted because they remain same over time and from person to person. E.g. gram, kilogram etc

1000 gram | 1 kilogram |

1000 milligram | 1 gram |

100 centigram | 1 gram |

10 decigram | 1 gram |

10 gram | 1 decagram |

**Things to remember:**

- Light objects are measured in milligram or grams. E.g. length of a pencil will be in centimeters.
- Heavy objects are measured in kilograms.
- Very heavy objects are measures in tonnes.
