**Capacity**

Capacity is the measurement to determine how much space is occupied by a thing.

There are various types of equipment and units to measure capacity. It is also known as volume.

**Non Standard unit: **Non-standard units are the units which are not frequently used as they bound to change from time to time and from person to person.

**Standard unit:** Units which are widely accepted because they remain same over time and from person to person. E.g. milliliter, litre etc

**Conversion table**

1000 milliliter | 1 litre |

1000 litre | 1 kilolitre |

100 centilitre | 1 litre |

10 decilitre | 1 litre |

10 litre | 1 decalitre |

**Things to remember:**

- Small volumes are measured in millilitre like medicine dosages.
- Water bottles are generally of 1 litre.
- Water tanks ranges from 100 litre to 1000 litre (1 kilolitre).
