GravityThere is a mysterious force which makes everything fall towards the earth. This force is called gravity. Basically, all the objects have their own gravity but some objects like the earth or the sun have stronger gravity than others. This is because of its large size. Larger the size of an object greater is the gravity it has. It also depends on how close you are to the object. The closer you are, the stronger the gravity.
Gravity is very important to our everyday lives. Without Earth's gravity, we would fly right off it. If you kicked a ball, it would fly off forever. We couldn't live without gravity.
Gravity also is important on a larger scale. It is the Sun's gravity that keeps the Earth in orbit around the Sun. Life on Earth needs the Sun's light and warmth to survive. Gravity helps the Earth to stay just the right distance from the Sun, so it's neither too hot nor too cold.
A scientist named Isaac Newton for the very first time described gravity mathematically. His theory was called Newton's law of universal gravitation.
