Our Solar System

The solar system is made up of the sun and everything that orbits around it, including planets, moons, asteroids, comets and meteoroids. Our solar system is in milky way galaxy. Galaxies are the huge span of dust, gas, dark matter and millions of stars.

The Sun is a star- a massive ball of hot gas that gives off light and heat. There are eight planets that orbit around the Sun. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun while  Neptune is the farthest one. The earth is the only planet where life exists. It rotates on its own axis while orbiting around the sun and completes one rotation in 24 hours. Jupiter is the biggest planet while Mercury is the smallest one.

Not everything in the solar system revolves around the sun, The moon orbits around the Earth.
