We are capable of hearing the call made upon by our mother, or the chirruping of birds in the garden, or the ringing bells, all because of the ears we have and the sound produced by the source- living or non- living. Sound is yet another form of energy that provides us with the sensation to hear and understand accordingly. Sound always require a medium to travel. Usually, the sounds we hear travels through air. We have unveiled some properties of sound in the following postulates for you-
How do we hear the sound using our ears?
Whenever a sound is produced by a source, it enters our ear from the pinnae and cause the ear-drum to vibrate accordingly. The vibrations formed on the ear-drum are then carried forward to the brain afterwards via the nerves.
Sound could be pleasant or unpleasant that depends on the type of object producing that. Some sounds which we find pleasant are- Sound of a flute, Music being played on a guitar, chirruping of the birds, etc. Some of the unpleasant sounds and irritates our ear drum- Taking off an aeroplane. hammering the wall, the loudspeaker sound,etc.
