Subtraction is removing a number or thing from other groups of number or thing. Example 8-4=4.

8 is a minuend, 4 is a subtrahend and 4 is a difference.

Things to remember:

1. If we subtract zero from any number the sum will be the number itself.

E.g. 5 - 0 = 5.

2. Subtract smaller number from bigger number.

E.g 9 -6 = 1.

3. If we subtract 1 from any number it will give an immediate previous number of that number

E.g 9 -8 = 1.
