Force

Introduction

Whenever there is an interaction between two objects, the objects experience an equal and opposing force on each other.

A force can be described as a push or pull on an object resulting from the object’s interaction with another object. A force acting on an object causes the object to change its shape or size, to make it move or stop, etc.

Types of forces

1. Frictional force- If we roll down a ball on grassy ground, it will gradually slow down and finally stop. This would happen because a force acts between the ball and the ground. This is the frictional force which acts between the surfaces of the two object when they come in contact with each other.  It prevents us from slipping all the time and also enable us to walk without falling because friction slows down or prevents the motion.

2. Gravitational force -

The earth pulls things towards it. That is why apple drops down on the ground from a tree instead of going towards the sky. The pull of the earth is a kind of force. This force is a called Gravitational force

3. Magnetic forceA magnet is a material that attracts things made of Iron, Cobalt and Nickle. Force of the magnet is called magnetic force.

4. Muscular force- When we lift our bag, write with our hand, walk to the school, and try to push something. In all these activities we do use our muscles to apply force. The force applied by our muscles to carry out all of our activities is called muscular force.

5. Mechanical force -  Force applied by a machine is called mechanical force. For example, the Force applied by a bulldozer to move the soil and force applied by digger to dig the earth is the force applied by machines, not humans.
